About the Society

Who are we?

The Lithuanian Society of Gastroenterology (LGD) is an independent, non-profit professional association bringing together Lithuanian gastroenterologists, resident doctors and other healthcare professionals interested in digestive health. The Society unites a professional community, represents its interests and contributes to the advancement of gastroenterology in Lithuania.

Our mission

We seek to improve digestive health in Lithuania by advancing science, supporting professional development, promoting evidence-based clinical practice, educating the public and fostering international collaboration.

History

The origins of the Lithuanian Society of Gastroenterology date back to 1969, while the Society has operated independently since 1973. Over more than five decades, LGD has become the country’s leading organisation for gastroenterology professionals, actively contributing to the advancement of research, education and clinical practice.
